​​Francois' Nomads Journey

Francois first picked up a golf club at the age of 14, swinging a borrowed Manta pitching wedge across the "veldjie" (small open field) near his home in Newcastle, South Africa. It didn’t take long for the golf bug to bite!

Over the years, he played on and off in corporate golf days. Like many golfers, one unforgettable moment stands out. In 2001, during a Voermol Golf Day at Umhlali Country Club, Francois made a hole-in-one on the 18th — the highlight of any golfer’s year! Unfortunately, the elusive ace has evaded him ever since… the drought is real!

In 2011, Francois and his wife Karen emigrated to Australia. In July 2018, he joined Nomads Golf Club Perth after being invited by Ernie Arnold. Together, Francois and Karen run a small signage business, Image Signs.

To date, Francois has played in 81 monthly Nomads games, attended four Australian Nationals, and one South African Nationals.
