Jono du Plessis
Captain 2026
Jono's Nomads Journey
Jono was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, and attended Maritzburg College, where he threw himself into sport—especially rugby. He was around 12 years old when he first picked up a golf club, playing casually with his mates in Richards Bay. All these years later, he still loves getting out on the course with friends, regardless of how the scorecard looks.
In 2008, Jono and his wife Philippa emigrated to Perth, where they began building their life together. They now have two children, Sasha and Blake. A qualified automotive technician, Jono currently manages the Automasters store in Osborne Park.
Jono became one of the founding members of Perth Nomads in 2013. His achievements with the club include joining the 40 Pointer Club in 2014, winning the Jack Newton Plate alongside Francois du Toit in 2019, and being crowned Champion of the Year in 2024. He has played over 100 monthly Nomads games and has attended two Australian Nationals.
